Ping is a computer network administration software utility used to test the reachability of a host on an Internet Protocol (IP) network. Round-trip (to and from) time is measured for messages that are relayed from one computer to another. In a way, ping tells how fast computers are “speaking” to eachother. Many times, ping issues need to be addressed which can end up slowing down network connections if ignored.
High ping rates can cause an enormous amount of problems ranging from online game lag, video streaming lag, email messaging, and many other general communication platforms that uses IP adresses.
